Job Summary
This position will be filled as a Project Manager with responsibility for sales engineering for Southern Telecom Inc. (STI) including, but not limited to engineering new fiber routes, colocation facilities, and project feasibility studies as it relates to new customer agreements from a pre-sales support perspective. Responsibilities would also include post-sales support including provisioning new services - confirming new fiber routes and establishing power to new fiber racks in the case of colocation services. This position will work closely with sales and marketing personnel for Connectivity, and aid in connectivity sales and contract negotiations. This role may also help direct field operations personnel to troubleshoot and perform maintenance for external customers.
Majo Job Responsibilities:
+ Evaluate, pursue, and champion external opportunities associated with third parties wanting to lease STI connectivity assets as well as partnering with APC, GPC, and MPC with focusing on the engineering and feasibility of new sales opportunities.
+ Contribute to the organization’s strategy for maximizing fiber revenue by capitalizing on our connectivity assets
+ Network internally and externally to build relationships and partnerships that support business growth.
+ Provide assistance in. STI capital projects for new business opportunities.
+ Partner and coordinate with STI sales and PD-Marketing to streamline communication and create efficiency in similar efforts.
- Project Coordination & Execution:
+ Aid in developing leases and partnerships through the sales cycle by generating project feasibility and engineering & construction requirements.
+ Ensure that design and construction activities related to dark fiber leases and new sales opportunities are planned, prioritized, and executed efficiently by working cross-functionally with different teams and departments (Power Delivery, TO, Marketing, STI, etc.)
+ Oversee portions of the capital and O&M budgets related to fiber projects as well as generate cost estimates for customer specific fiber construction.
+ Work with lessees and partners as operational and maintenance needs arise
+ Collaborate internally with SCS TO, Power Delivery, Marketing, Supply Chain, CRE, External and Governmental Affairs, Regulatory, Accounting, and other departments.
+ Engage externally with telecoms, lit services providers, key commercial and industrial customers, government agencies, data centers, and other fiber providers.
+ Work with legal advisors to develop fiber cable leases and associated leases for telecom equipment.
+ Ensure that contract specifications, terms, and standards are created, maintained, and communicated as needed.
+ Create and improve processes related to contract management, billing, accounting, and reporting
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Telecom related field of study, MBA/pursuit of MBA is preferred.
+ Experience working across functional areas within a Southern Company operating company and/or other Southern Company affiliates. This may include working as a Contractor working on Southern Company projects.
+ Experience with fiber design and commissioning, including network and outside plant.
+ Experience troubleshooting telecom networks.
+ Experience with fiber construction, both outside and inside plant.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Internal and external networker and collaborator
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.)
+ Builder of cross-functional teams
+ Must be able to travel across Southern Company’s service territory, occasional overnight travel is required
