Job Function:
Coordinates and schedules fleet vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair activities with Company customers and service personnel. Handles all road calls/breakdowns and hand-off of new equipment and acceptance of old/retired equipment.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as first and primary customer contact; records and verifies vehicle mileage, unit number, customer contact information, nature of problem or complaint; explains maintenance and/or repair process to customers.
- Inspects and tests vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions (e.g., brakes, electrical systems, engines, chassis, air conditioning, axles, steering mechanisms); identifies and defines service requirements.
- Prepares itemized work orders in Enterprise Asset Management (EAM); lists parts and labor required; schedules work order and confirms with customers; tests vehicles and equipment to ensure repairs have been made according to work order requirements and specifications; ensures work orders are correct and complete (e.g., warranty notes, complaint, cause, correction, parts charged, work performed codes, time and labor codes); closes work orders and returns vehicles or equipment to customers.
- Verifies information entered in EAM (e.g., work notes, time and labor information) for each work order before daily close of business; closes work orders.
- Evaluates cost effectiveness of repair solutions (e.g., complete in house or send out); negotiates services and costs (e.g., body work, natural gas special equipment) with commercial body shops and repair facilities.
- Assigns work orders to work teams; monitors daily work queue; reassigns work orders according to priority and balance as required.
- Queries EAM to generate standard and ad hoc reports (e.g., work order repair status, repair time, preventative maintenance required).
- Maintains pool vehicles for immediate service; controls reservations; checks in and out; cleans and fuels; inspects for damages and prepares accident/incident reports if required; ensures compliance with company regulations and insurance requirements.
- Integrates new vehicles and equipment into work schedules; ensures compliance with visual identification regulations (e.g., affixes decals, stickers, placards, reflective tape).
- Arranges for wrecker service to retrieve vehicles as required.
- Assists in evaluating condition of vehicles and equipment; helps identify surplus and suggests for disposal (e.g., sale, auction, donation).
- Conduct handovers of new equipment and review vehicle features with operators.
- Manage all accident-related tasks, including collaborating with departments to obtain accident reports, coordinating with FLEET RESPONSE, and liaising with body shops.
Education and Experience:
Required:
• High school diploma or GED
• 2-5 years mechanic experience maintaining and repairing gasoline and/or diesel-power vehicles and equipment
Preferred:
• Associate degree in a technical discipline
• 2-3 years leadership experience
