JOB SUMMARY
The Network Underground Services (NUS) – Warehouse Technician reports to the NUS Distribution Construction Supervisor. This position is primarily responsible for the NUS Warehouse which supports Construction, Training, Engineering, Maintenance and Test. The successful candidate will be required to gain extensive knowledge of the NUS materials used for civil and electrical installations. This position provides services through the procurement of stock and non-stock items, tracking of PO/PR’s and emergency stock levels. This position works closely with NUS - engineers, supervisors, principals, technical trainers, management, etc. to support the supply and demand for Network Construction – New Business & System Improvement, Operations & Reliability (O&R) and NUS Training. The successful candidate will support all operations that allows NUS to perform high quality, cost effective, and timely construction services for the network underground electrical systems located within Metro Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah, Macon, Columbus, Athens, Gainesville, Valdosta and other spot Network Systems located within the state of Georgia. This position is accountable for maintaining inventory that allows NUS to provide a highly reliable service to the many High-Profile Customers located within our service territory. This position also assists with material needs for non-Network requests, such as “Hi-Reliable” Distribution Systems, the MARTA Electrical System, unique Generating Plant service requests (including Nuclear), etc. The successful candidate must embrace Safety Excellence and Our Values. The reporting location for this position will be in Atlanta and some travel to other areas on the electric system. The successful candidate must live within commuting distance of Atlanta or be willing to relocate.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for attending bi-weekly scheduling/planning meetings, quality control, inventory and reconciling material for close-out of projects
- Coordinate with Distribution Construction Supervisor, Coordinators and Design Engineers to ensure material availability for upcoming projects
- Partner with Construction, Design Engineering, NUS Principal Engineers, Maintenance and Test, to identify specialized non-stock materials for each department
- Procurement of non-stock purchases including tracking & receiving
- Communicate with Buyers & Vendors for generating & tracking PO/PR’s
- Schedule deliveries of materials for statewide operations of Network construction employees and contractors (Total ~250)
- Maintain emergency stock levels for Network operations
- Accountable for management of ~$44M in inventory and to remain in compliance for audit readiness
- Generate documents associated with warehouse transactions and maintain files in accordance with guidelines
- Manage all hazardous materials to assure safety and regulatory compliance
- Responsible for reporting and documentation associated with Corporate and Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines, local policies, and audit preparedness
- Responsible for fuel inventory management and accounting
- Accountable for analyzing, replenishing, monitoring and controlling NUS Warehouse inventory to ensure maximum material availability with minimum inventory investment
- Responsible for reducing obsolete material inventory
- Verify all stock and non-stock materials are properly entered in the material inventory system
- Assuring compliance and accountability of procurement card expenses
- Ability to maintain confidentially relative to information about vendors and cost
- Responsible for CRON and restock of material weekly
- Take ownership for inventory level accuracy through inventory cycle counts, researching of variances and discrepancies, making corrections
- Inspection upon receipt of all products for proper assembly and specification compliance
- Standardize new commodity additions and existing commodity information on stock items
- Responsible for performing analyst function for all material in NUS inventory
- Responsible for performing physical inventories of all material located at NUS locations
- Support the NUS Service Shop in the following areas,
- Evaluate New Tools & Materials
- Gas Monitor Calibrations
- Schedule Hydraulic Hose Testing
- Schedule Testing for Lifting Chains
- Electrical Stick Testing
- Testing of Personal Protective Grounds
- Maintain stock of Nitrogen, Oxygen, Propane
- Maintain & coordinate the repair of specialized tools for NUS
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School education or equivalent required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree is a plus
Experience Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of specialized materials and tools needed for NUS is highly preferred
- Familiarization with Network equipment, including cable such as 3-phase Paper Insulated Lead Covered Cable (PILC), Cross Linked Polyethylene Cable (XLP), Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR), 4kV switch gear, submersible transformers & protectors, specialized splices & components, vault frames & hatches, etc. is highly desired
- Training or experience in accounting practices as they relate to warehouse operations
- Experience in inventory management, control, purchasing and the associated is highly preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Maximo, CRON & Enterprise Solutions is highly preferred

- Valid Driver’s License is required
- The incumbent will be required to be in an on-call rotation to respond for warehouse duties during trouble situations
- Successful candidate must live within reasonable distance of permanent work location
- Availability for Storm Duty is required
