Senior Project Manager (E8) – Transmission Project Management Organization (PMO)
JOB SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for the development and execution activities associated with transmission line and substation capital construction projects for customer choice projects within the state of Georgia. A Development Project Manager takes the project from the origination/solution phase through the budget approval before project execution with input from this position. The Customer Choice Senior Project Manager then coordinates the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout of projects, monitors project progress, schedules, and budgets with special attention to areas identified as high-risk, oversees the project change management process, and conducts post project reviews and shares lessons learned. Individuals in these roles are project management subject matter experts (SME) and will engage in intentional mentorship and knowledge transfer to project managers, assistant project managers, and other team members. These individuals will be involved in complex and high exposure projects while ensuring stakeholder satisfaction by managing expectations and delivering high quality results.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Educational/Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred.
- PMP or other PM Certification a plus.
- PE Certification a plus
- 5+ years of Transmission/Power Delivery experience and 3+ years as a transmission project manager is preferred.
- Experience in one or more departments including Transmission Planning, Transmission Design/Engineering, Transmission Operations, Transmission Construction, Transmission Maintenance is strongly desired.
Technical Experience Requirements:
- Strong experience in Transmission is required. Experience in managing area execution, new business, customer choice and high-profile projects is required.
- Extensive knowledge of the transmission system, engineering principles, electric operating practices, construction practices, land requirements and regulations, budgeting, scheduling, and general business practices.
- Direct experience developing and executing projects with project management principles and techniques across the entire Gated Process
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate progress, identify problem areas, evaluate alternatives and determine viable solutions.
- Experience analyzing, projecting, and controlling project costs over time.
- Ability to proactively manage communication among team members, stakeholders, other departments and all levels of leadership.
