JOB SUMMARY
The Technical Training Instructor is responsible for providing leadership and technical development while fostering a safe and effective learning environment for internal Southern Company technical employees. High initiative and self-motivation are key as this person will develop, deliver, and evaluate training courses, training aids, and other necessary materials for Southern Company training programs related to renewable energy technologies, including solar and battery storage. This individual will actively collaborate in a team environment with other technical trainers and SMEs across the Southern Company System to align training with SCS organizational goals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills _)_
Technical degree in a related field preferred; suitable job experience may be accepted.
Journeyman or specialist level work experience in areas such as Solar/Microgrid, Instrument and Controls, or Electrical.
Experience in designing and presenting classroom and job site training is preferred
Field experience troubleshooting and maintaining solar systems is preferred.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft tools - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Demonstrated technical writing, communications, facilitation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
Collaborates effectively within a team setting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Major responsibilities of the job, no more than 8)
Develop and deliver engaging and effective training curricula and materials for solar and battery technologies.
Conduct training sessions for a diverse audience, ensuring clarity and understanding of complex renewable energy concepts.
Utilize various instructional methods, including in-person, virtual, and hands-on training, to accommodate different learning styles.
Engage in curriculum planning and development, training design and development with plant SMEs. Includes specification of learner outcomes (goals and objectives), content specification, and design, selection of instructional delivery formats, strategies and media, materials, and ensuring course continuity.
Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in solar and battery technologies to continually enhance training programs.
Provide technical support and guidance to trainees during and after training sessions.
Schedule, organize and report training reports and rosters.
Manage costs and expenses within budget.
