JOB DESCRIPTION
This position serves as the lead analyst on Georgia Power’s wholesale and purchased power accounting activities. These activities include ensuring compliance, supporting execution, providing thought leadership around the planning, analysis, and preparations for wholesale-related activities and deliverables. In addition, this position will assist with regulatory filings such as base rate case filings, storm filing, and fuel rate case filings.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Operate and maintain Excel Wholesale Model and corresponding PolySum actualization process
- Compile annual wholesale budget through collaboration with team members and external data contributors
- Fulfill monthly, quarterly, and annual wholesale reporting requirements
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of associated journal vouchers and account reconciliations, as well as describing actual-to-budget variance drivers on the monthly Preliminary Income Analysis call
- Work with Financial Planning to align Excel and UI Wholesale Model budget inputs and allocation calculations
- Work with Regulatory Base Case personnel to identify efficiency improvements in the wholesale regulatory adjustment process
- Provide support for Regulatory filings (Base Case, Fuel Case, Interim Fuel Rider, FERC, etc.)
- Provide quarterly non-fuel wholesale income statement to Southern Wholesale Energy
- Operate and maintain the WECR (Wholesale Environmental Compliance Recovery) Model to provide change in law billing to wholesale customers
Education & Experience:
- BA/BS degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent
- Master’s degree and/or CPA are a plus
- 3+ years of experience in Budgeting, Finance, Accounting, or similar experience required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, SOAR, and UI
- Knowledge of and proficiency in GAAP and FERC accounting principles
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Propensity to learn and grow in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask with accuracy and timeliness, and to meet tight and conflicting deadlines
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data, trouble shoot, develop, and communicate clear, concise conclusions
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Experience working with regulatory models
- High-level understanding of Georgia’s regulatory environment and ratemaking principles
