Job Description
Project Manager – Project Management Office (PMO)- This position can site at any SNC site.
JOB SUMMARY:
Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) operates one of the nation’s most respected nuclear generating fleets. The Project Management Office (PMO) provides governance, oversight, and strategic guidance to ensure consistent project execution across the fleet. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the PMO team to support project assessments, lifecycle management, and audit functions for projects of varying complexity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating project governance, conducting independent assessments, and providing oversight to ensure compliance with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and SNC standards. This role will interface with project teams across multiple nuclear sites, providing leadership and support to drive superior performance, safety, and reliability in project execution.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Advanced degree or specialized training in project management or nuclear industry operations is a plus.
Experience Preferences:
• Minimum of five (5) years of project management experience, preferably within a highly regulated industry such as nuclear energy, power generation, or utilities.
• Experience managing or overseeing complex, multi-disciplinary projects across all phases of the project lifecycle.
• Demonstrated experience applying project governance frameworks, risk management, and quality assurance principles.
• Prior experience conducting project assessments, audits, or performance reviews is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of nuclear industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices (e.g., INPO, NRC, PMI) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and performance tracking.
• Ability to assess project health and compliance with governance standards and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
• Expertise in risk identification, mitigation strategies, and change management processes.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence project outcomes through collaboration and effective communication.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, Power BI).
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and present clear findings.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present reports to senior management.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams across multiple plant sites and corporate offices.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Maintain unescorted access to all SNC facilities.

Please note: This position may require successful completion of SNC Initial Project Management or Engineering Training as a condition of continued employment. The training is several weeks long and may require studying after work hours.
