Regression QA Analyst
JOB SUMMARY:
This position performs manual and automated testing for a list of assigned applications/processes including (but not limited to) Oracle, PowerPlan, and third-party applications used by Southern Company subsidiaries. The role creates and maintains test assets (scripts, test data, and regression suites), supports defect management and test reporting, and coordinates testing activities with Product Delivery, business stakeholders, and workstream support teams. While posted at an intermediate level, the ideal candidate will be able to operate independently and may provide day-to-day guidance to other QA analysts during test cycles.
Responsibilities :
Test Execution:
- Own and drive functional, regression, and UAT testing for assigned enterprise applications (Oracle Cloud ERP, EPM, HCM, OCI, PowerPlan, Maximo, and other third-party applications); may serve as test lead for an assigned application suite or release.
- Develop and execute automated tests using Tricentis Tosca.
- Leverage AI-enabled test automation capabilities within Tricentis Tosca (e.g., model-based automation, automated test case design, and self-healing maintenance features where available) to improve test coverage, resiliency, and execution efficiency; AI-enabled Tosca automation experience is a strong plus.
- Partner with Product Delivery and business stakeholders to understand changes, define test scope/approach, and ensure release readiness using Southern Company testing and release tools.
- Test key financial and expenditure controls as required.
- Execute complex functional and integration test scenarios (including cross-module and external system integrations) and coordinate test execution with other QA analysts as needed.
- Perform post-deployment smoke testing and production validation (including warranty support).
Test Management:
- Develop test strategies, plans, and detailed test cases based on requirements and solution design.
- Maintain test assets (scripts, test data, and regression suites); manage defects in qTest/JIRA; and produce test summaries and metrics.
- Perform root cause analysis for critical defects and collaborate with Product Delivery and support teams to drive timely resolution.
- Participate in requirements and design reviews to confirm acceptance criteria and testability.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to other QA analysts during test cycles and share best practices (mentoring experience preferred).
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, IT, Accounting, or related discipline is required.
- 5+ years of hands-on testing experience with Oracle Cloud applications.
- Preferred: 7+ years of QA/testing experience and prior experience serving as a test lead (e.g., driving test planning/execution and coordinating UAT with business users).
- Experience with AI-enabled test automation capabilities in Tricentis Tosca (and/or similar AI-assisted automation features), including optimizing regression suites through automated test design and reduced script maintenance is preferred.
- Experience testing enterprise finance, HR, and/or planning processes in Oracle (and/or PowerPlan or Maximo) is preferred.
- Strong requirements review, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies is required.
- Familiarity with Maximo related business processes is desired.
- Data management skills and proven working use of SQL through Southern Company supported tools, i.e. TOAD, SQL Developer, etc. is desired.
- High degree of initiative and personal responsibility “ownership” for assignments.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a team, build superior customer relationships, mentor others, and collaborate with interfacing support teams, Business Process teams, etc.
