Primavera Interface Developer
Location: Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL (Onsite 4 days a week)
Job Summary
The Primavera Center of Excellence (COE) within Southern Company’s Technology Organization (Enterprise Technology Solutions) implements and supports enterprise scheduling and project controls applications used across Generation (Fossil, Hydro, and Nuclear), Transmission, Distribution, Technical Shared Services, and Project Management Offices (PMOs). This role develops and supports integrations (inbound/outbound interfaces), reports, and related automation primarily for Oracle Primavera Unifier and Primavera P6, and for connected systems such as Maximo and other enterprise applications. The position partners with business users, vendors, and internal technology teams to gather requirements, design solutions, deliver enhancements, and provide production support. Strong experience with C#, .NET, and Java development, SQL, and integration middleware (e.g., SSIS or BizTalk) is required; experience with reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SSRS, or Oracle BI) is strongly preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide production support, develop, and maintain integrations involving Primavera Unifier, Primavera P6, Maximo, ScheduleAnywhere, TEAMS, PCTS, eSOMS Clearance and Tagging, and other connected enterprise systems as needed
- Lead requirements gathering with business stakeholders; translate needs into functional requirements and technical specifications
- Configure and administer supported applications to meet business and technical requirements (as applicable to the assigned systems)
- Coordinate with software vendors for issue resolution, upgrades, patches, and support escalations
- Collaborate with internal technology partners (e.g., Security, Database, Infrastructure, and Application Services) to design, implement, and support reliable solutions
- Execute software change management activities (release planning, approvals, deployments, documentation, and validation)
- Develop and maintain strong knowledge of core business processes and how they are enabled by the Primavera suite and related applications
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across Southern Company’s operating companies and Southern Company Services
- Support project planning and delivery by providing estimates, status updates, risks/issues, and progress reporting to leaders and customers
First 6–12 Months Expectations
- Independently support priority Unifier/P6 interfaces and resolve production incidents within agreed service levels
- Deliver interface enhancements (requirements → design → build → test → deploy) with clear documentation and stakeholder sign-off
- Improve reliability/observability of integrations through better logging, monitoring, and runbooks
- Establish trusted partnerships with key business users, vendors, and internal platform teams
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on application development experience building and supporting integrations using C#, .NET, and Java
- Experience with integration middleware such as SSIS and/or BizTalk
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (SQL Server and/or Oracle)
- Experience implementing and supporting software solutions provided by external vendors
- Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) practices, change management, and production support processes
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects/enhancements on time and within budget constraints
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams and deliver results
- Strong stakeholder management skills; able to build effective working relationships with employees, peers, and leaders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Working knowledge of existing and emerging information technologies relevant to enterprise application integration
- Ability to coordinate work across multiple technology functions (e.g., Security, Database, Infrastructure, and Application Services)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Primavera Unifier and/or Primavera P6 technical implementation and support
- Experience working in a Citrix environment
- Experience with WebLogic (or similar Java application servers)
- Experience with reporting/analytics tools such as Power BI, SSRS, Oracle BI, or similar
- Knowledge of project management concepts and/or finance/accounting in support of project controls processes
Education
- BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is preferred
