Profitability & Economic Analysis Analyst

JOB SUMMARY
The Profitability & Economic Analysis Analyst is responsible for economic modeling, margin analysis, and pricing evaluations that support strategic customer programs, large-load and special contract opportunities, regulatory filings, and long-term planning. The candidate must be able to understand, interpret, and apply economic concepts, as well as communicate results to peers and management for the purpose of facilitating the decision-making processes. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Power Contracts, Regulatory, Resource Planning, Planning and Regulatory Support, etc.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Engineering, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or related field of study preferred
- Master’s degree is preferred
Experience & Knowledge:
- Experience using and designing complex Excel models
- Knowledge of financial metrics, financial reports, marginal economic theory, utility costs, and revenue requirements
- Understanding of electrical end-use energy usage and demand requirements, as well as system planning assumptions
- Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbally) complex analyses and data
- Ability to work independently and be willing to take leadership roles as needed
- Proven ability as a self-starter and performing successfully under deadlines
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and support financial and economic analysis cases using the PRICEM model (marginal costing model)
- Design and perform ad hoc financial and economic analysis for new marketing programs, energy efficiency and demand response programs, and other programs
- Support regulatory filing requirements of the Alabama Public Service Commission
- Support planning and goal-setting for APC Customer Solutions
- Work in cross-functional teams to analyze and communicate customer contract analytics and profitability
- Lead and participate in System and APC teams related to marginal economic modeling and assumptions required in decision analysis
