Environmental Specialist / Engineer (Environmental Compliance – Water)

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is needed to support ongoing Power Delivery growth initiatives and plays a critical role in the successful execution of transmission line, substation, and underground fiber installations. The successful candidate will provide environmental compliance and project management support throughout project development, permitting, and construction planning activities for natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, facilitate, oversee, and interpret natural resource investigations such as wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species surveys and cultural resource and archaeological surveys.
- Manage and support environmental permitting activities, including obtaining and maintaining U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 and Section 10 permits.
- Partner with Corporate Real Estate (CRE) and other internal stakeholders to conduct due diligence on property acquisitions and to support site selection for power delivery projects.
- Coordinate with project teams, consultants, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements are identified and incorporated into project schedules and implementation plans.
- Support Power Delivery project development by proactively identifying environmental risks and developing mitigation strategies to maintain project schedules.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or related area of study preferred.
Experience:
- Experience utilizing GIS is required – Ability to develop project specific maps and figures, conduct geospatial analysis and data file type conversion would be highly beneficial.
- Experience writing, negotiating, and obtaining water-related environmental permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preferred.
- Working knowledge of natural resource regulations to include National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, etc.
- Familiarity with writing, and/or obtaining water-related environmental permits and/or consulting with environmental regulatory agencies. Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Experience organizing, planning, prioritizing, and tracking multiple projects.
