Job Summary: This is responsible for supporting PowerSecure’s complete line of products through the development and updates of Technical Support manuals, Sales Support materials, including Submittals, Specification and Cut Sheets, Field Installation manuals, Operation & Maintenance manuals, and maintaining an active Repository as well as providing support to Marketing on an as-need basis. They need to be thoroughly comfortable with determining business and manufacturing processes through verbal and written communication with key stakeholders, ultimately creating documentation that is informative, resulting in repeatable standards and results.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in technical writing.
- Bachelor’s degree with a preferred Technical Focus and/or English with emphasis on writing.
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, and power systems is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office products, especially Teams, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge and use of Adobe products preferred, specifically InDesign and Illustrator.
- Familiarity with Vault and AutoCAD.
- Ability to understand and explain customer specifications, mechanical and electrical engineer's documents, industry safety standards, and a wide range of PowerSecure manuals.
- Ability to research, comprehend, and retain a multitude of diverse product specifications and procedures to produce accurate documents within a quick timeframe.
- View projects from a broad perspective and define how and where the details need to be presented.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills across multiple mediums.
- Ask perceptive questions and listen "between the lines" to obtain necessary information and/or resolve issues.
- Understand and comprehend different thought patterns.
- Quickly adapt to various computer software programs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consult with subject matter experts and content providers to ensure common understanding of policies and procedures.
- Collaborate closely with various departments to obtain research materials and product specifications ensuring the most up-to-date information is published.
- Understand the concept of a microgrid and how each component works within the system.
- Compose equipment systems descriptions for all PowerSecure products.
- Create Operator & Maintenance, Installation manuals, as well as creating and updating Sales Support Documentation.
- Efficiently gather information from a variety of vendor manuals to produce an easy-to-follow procedural guide with process flows for internal or external company use.
- Update Safety Standards, Templates, and Repository annually.
- Review and maintain active indexing of Repository materials.
- Develop and layout of instructional manuals for all products or departments.
- Compose Submittal documents for PowerSecure projects.
- Perform quality checks to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance.
- Participate in team meetings to review documentation progress and receive feedback.
- Up to 20% of travel.
Working Conditions:
- Required to work on a computer for extended periods of time, learn in a hands-on environment, and lift 40 lbs. May include standing and walking on manufacturing floor while wearing PPE or at an active job site throughout the day.
- Work can take place remotely, in an office setting, on the manufacturing floor, and on active job sites. Possible exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, noise intensity level, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, enclosed/tight spaces, and proximity to moving mechanical parts.
