Job Summary:
The Senior Production Manager leads multiple manufacturing work centers and cross functional teams to ensure operational excellence in safety, quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic production plans, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and mentoring mid-level managers and Supervisors. The Senior Production Manager plays a key role in aligning production operations with organizational goals, customer expectations, and long-term growth strategies.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
- Bachelor’s degree, or 6+ years of related work experience.
- 6+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including 4+ years managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven success in leading large-scale production operations, preferably in Electrical Switchgear or Power Generation equipment.
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems (IFS, SAP, Oracle) and production planning tools.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience managing departmental budgets and driving cost reduction initiatives.
- Advanced knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (certification preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions and performance improvements.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills with a focus on succession planning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee multiple production areas across diverse manufacturing disciplines, managing teams of Supervisors, Team Leads, and support staff.
- Develop and implement strategic production plans to meet forecasted demand, optimize resource utilization, and ensure delivery targets.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and HR to improve operational performance and resolve systemic issues.
- Champion Safety initiatives, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Continuous Improvement efforts to reduce waste, improve flow, and enhance product quality.
- Monitor and analyze production metrics (labor hours, throughput, quality, safety) and drive corrective/preventative actions.
- Ensure compliance with Methods of Manufacturing (MoM’s), Manufacturing Assembly Instructions (MAI’s) and safety protocols.
- Mentor and develop production leadership talent, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional growth.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align production capabilities with business objectives and customer requirements.
- Manage departmental budgets, labor planning, and capital improvement projects.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position will require standing, stooping, bending, and limited lifting of up to 50lbs.
Typical work environment will be conditioned space. Limited local travel may be required that will change the work environment. This is an active manufacturing setting, at times it will be noisy, and equipment will be moving.
