Directly responsible for maintaining and ensuring the reliable operation of the natural gas liquefaction, boiloff, and vaporization process systems for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant 365 days a year. Responsible for the analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing of all plant equipment and performing all preventive maintenance to ensure the proper calibration of the process equipment and control instrumentation. Trains new LNG technicians as well as other plant personnel. Provides shift coverage for operators during operation and works at other plants when the need arises. Works with high pressure gas, cryogenic liquids (-260 degrees), high temperature machinery, high electrical voltage (4160 volts), combustion chambers and at elevated heights.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains and repairs equipment and controls (e.g. gas turbines, security/ surveillance systems, large industrial engines/compressors, generators, boilers, gas/air regulator, control valves, cooling fans, and smart transmitters)
- Provides proactive preventative maintenance (PM) activities (e.g. major engine/compressor overhauls, annual inspections, relief/control valve testing, switch calibrations). Must maintain records on computer system to ensure compliance with state, federal, and Company policies and regulations.
- Trouble shoots equipment and system problems (e.g. AC/DC circuits, computer controlled loops, programming, ignition systems, leak repairs, hazard detection systems, thermal transfer, medium voltage (4160), low voltage, high temperature combustion chambers); repairs or replaces as required.
- Orders specialty replacement parts: researches options (price, lead time); prepares quarterly maintenance budget. Performs fabrications and provides technical assistance to contractors during capital projects.
- Maintains LNG tanker systems and portable vaporization equipment (e.g. repairs leaks, calibrates instruments and trains field personnel company wide). Maintains tanker and hazardous materials endorsements.
- Communicates maintenance techniques and procedures for State and Federal agencies, as well as company audits (internal engineering, safety, insurance and security).
- Prioritizes/plans PM’s to meet the needs of all the LNG plants
- Performs inventory control functions and utilizing material management system.
- Responds to emergency call outs and demands of the LNG plant and/or Gas Control on 24/7 basis.
- Maintains availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime/extended hours.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- •High school diploma or GED
- 3-5 years experience maintaining and repairing industrial mechanical, electrical, electronic equipment and systems
Preferred:
- 2-3 years LNG Operator experience
- 3-5 years experience in power generation and high voltage.
- 3-5 years of control system experience
- Ability to read P&Is, CLDs, and SLDs
