Manager II Portfolio Management Job Description Manager II, Portfolio Management Position Summary As the Manager II, Portfolio Management, you'll serve as the enterprise's strategic portfolio leader-governing, prioritizing, and orchestrating a complex slate of cross-functional initiatives that span ADUSA Digital & Technology and the broader business (Supply Chain, Operations, HR, Finance, IT, and other enabling functions).
You'll be the central integrator who creates clarity from complexity-bringing structure, insight, and discipline to how the organization evaluates investments, sequences work, allocates resources, and realizes value. Acting as both a gatekeeper and trusted advisor, you'll guide senior leaders on where to accelerate, pause, or pivot based on strategic alignment, capacity, capability, and risk-ensuring the enterprise focuses on the highest-value work.

What You'll Be Trusted to Lead & Deliver Enterprise Portfolio Governance & Strategic Prioritization - Own the end-to-end enterprise initiative portfolio-intake, evaluation, prioritization, sequencing, and capacity planning across operational and support functions.
- Establish and mature portfolio governance frameworks that balance strategic value, financial return, risk, and organizational readiness.
- Serve as a decision-support authority and gatekeeper; recommend whether initiatives advance, pause, stop, or re-sequence based on enterprise priorities and constraints.
- Partner with executive and functional leaders to assess strategic fit, enterprise impact, interdependencies, and resource requirements.
- Ensure decisions align with corporate strategy, annual operating plans, capital plans, and long-range transformation roadmaps.
Program & Initiative Oversight - Provide directional oversight to program/project leaders across Operations, HR, Finance, IT, and enabling functions-driving delivery against scope, schedule, cost, and intended outcomes.
- Identify and manage interdependencies, conflicts, and systemic risks; proactively drive mitigation and course-correction.
- Standardize portfolio/program/project methodologies, tools, and performance expectations while enabling flexibility for waterfall, agile, and hybrid delivery models.
Enterprise Capacity, Capability & Resource Management - Assess and model capacity, capability, and skill availability to inform portfolio decisions and sequencing.
- Provide insights on organizational readiness, skill gaps, resourcing strategies, partnering closely with HR, Finance, and functional leaders.
- Support workforce and capability planning for transformation, automation, and technology-enabled change.
Performance Management, Financial Visibility & Reporting - Build and maintain executive dashboards that clearly show status, milestones, risks, dependencies, financials, and benefits realization.
- Track and communicate capital/OpEx impacts, investment returns, and value delivery.
- Prepare materials for leadership reviews and governance forums-synthesizing complexity into crisp insights and recommended actions.
- Escalate issues and risks with clarity, context, and data-backed options.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Enterprise Coordination - Act as the central connector across operational and enabling functions-driving alignment and coordinated execution.
- Facilitate executive and cross-functional working sessions, steering forums, and prioritization cadences.
- Partner with Finance, HR, IT, Procurement, and Legal to ensure initiatives are financially sound, staffed appropriately, and contractually supported.
- Support the Chief of Staff with enterprise communications, planning, and leadership updates.
Continuous Improvement & Portfolio Maturity - Advance enterprise maturity in portfolio, program, and project management.
- Simplify and standardize how initiatives are conceived, evaluated, and executed.
- Coach initiative owners on planning, risk management, and execution discipline; embed a culture of accountability, transparency, and outcomes-focused delivery.
What You Bring Strategic Business Acumen - Deep understanding of supply chain operations, field services, and enterprise support functions.
- Knowledge of organizational design, change management, and business transformation.
- Familiarity with financial planning, budgeting, and cost optimization.
Portfolio Contracting & Vendor Management - Expertise in portfolio governance, investment prioritization, and performance management.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, contract structures, and SLAs; ability to assess insource vs. outsource trade-offs.
Execution Leadership & Influence - Demonstrated ability to drive disciplined follow-through and convert commitments into measurable results.
- Strong collaboration and influence without authority across senior functional leaders.

- Strong financial acumen across capital planning, budgeting, and investment analysis.

Qualifications Minimum - Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
- 8-12+ years in portfolio management, program management, strategy, operations, or related enterprise roles.
- Proven experience managing large, complex, cross-functional portfolios in matrixed organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and guide decisions without direct authority.
Preferred - Master's (MBA or related discipline).
- Experience in management consulting, enterprise transformation, or strategic advisory.
- Track record supporting large-scale operational, digital, or organizational transformations.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Agile (PMP, PfMP, SAFe, or Lean certifications a plus).
Other Requirements - Hybrid role across corporate and distribution center environments, including active construction/deployment sites.
- Ability to travel 20-30% to distribution centers and corporate offices.
- Flexibility to support peak operational periods and executive cadence meetings.
