Job Description: Materials Team Leader
Location: Plant McDonough (Smyrna, GA)
Overview: The Materials Team Leader will supervise and coordinate all plant warehouse functions. This role includes direct supervision of warehouse employees, physical control of all warehouse inventories, timely procurement and optimization of parts and equipment, preparation of material requisitions, and maintaining records/documentation to verify material procurement, receipt, and payment.

- Preparation of material requisitions and maintaining records/documentation.
- Serve as the primary contact between plant personnel and the materials department.
- Reduce unnecessary or excessive inventory carrying costs.
- Minimize loss of unit availability due to parts shortages.
- Conduct commodity data review activities in the Maximo Inventory and Materials Management system.
- Coordinate inventory activities with plant personnel and management.
- Support corporate material initiatives including inventory reporting, analysis, and reconciliation activities.
- Ensure compliance with Corporate and Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines, local policies, self-assessments, auditing, and any present or future requirements of the Playbook related to materials management.
- Procure local purchases including tracking orders and research as required.
- Support and promote Safety, Compliance, Customer Service, and Team initiatives in the workplace.
- Champion materials/compliance initiatives and model “Our Values” in all areas of materials management and compliance.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Superior leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive knowledge of Maximo & the Enterprise Solutions suite of applications.
- Experience in inventory management, control, and purchasing procedures.
- Strong computer skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Extensive knowledge of Warehouse financial compliance requirements – SOX.
- Understanding of O&M and Capital budgeting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Understanding of auditing principles and techniques.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality relative to information about vendors and cost.
- Knowledge of procedures associated with chemicals and hazardous waste.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact between plant personnel, the Materials Department, and Supply Chain Management.
- Analyze reorder reports daily.
- Review and optimize stocking levels by manufacturer and unit/equipment.
- Ensure review of 20% of inventory by System Owners every year.
- Coordinate vendor alliances and stocking programs.
- Maintain inventory level accuracy through cycle counts, researching variances, and making corrective measures.
- Identify criticality of stock items and manage inventory parameters.
- Standardize new commodity additions and existing commodity information.
- Manage vehicle fuel inventory and accounting.
- Monitor returns to stock of special project material.
- Coordinate system and company sales and purchases.
- Coordinate vendor alliances, stocking, and restocking programs.
- Ensure compliance with materials management and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with the Planning Department to provide material consistent with needs.
- Requisition and expedite orders as needed.
- Monitor and track plant repairable/rotating asset inventory items.
- Submit quarterly expenditure documentation for Financial Self-Assessments.
- Prepare inventory exception submittals to Supply Chain Management.
- Complete special projects and information requests.
- Be available for callouts, some nights, and weekend work.
- Assist with the coordination of vendor alliances and stocking programs.
- Monitor and track plant repairable/rotating asset inventory items.
