DESCRIPTION
Georgia Power is seeking two DERMS Supervisors to provide strategic leadership and project management of its Grid and Edge Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) deployments. These roles will oversee the delivery of these complex, high-visibility programs, and provide leadership of direct reports supporting these efforts. The successful candidates will be joining GPC’s expanding Grid Strategy & Solutions team that is developing Company strategies for the “grid of the future”. This collaborative and innovative team values leaders and problem‑solvers who are excited about shaping the future of our industry.
Job Description – Grid DERMS Supervisor
This position will lead strategy and execution of GPC’s Grid DERMS implementation project. Responsibilities will include project management, planning and execution, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement, communications, and budget management. The successful candidate must ensure this complex and highly visible project meets stakeholder expectations and is completed on time and within budget.
This formal leadership role will be responsible for providing work direction and supervision of direct reports responsible for Grid DERMS hardware and software implementation, data modeling, and technical support.
Since Grid DERMS is being deployed system wide, this role requires engaging with leadership of Southern Company’s electric operating companies, operations technology support groups, TO, cybersecurity, system operations, and subject matter experts (SMEs). This position will also work closely with project managers of various workstreams, organizations responsible for DER programs, accounting, and supply chain.
Major Job Responsibilities – Grid DERMS Supervisor
- Lead implementation and optimization of the GPC’s Grid DERMS deployment
- Provide strategic leadership over system design, project planning and implementation of Grid DERMS to ensure all business needs are met
- Provide oversight, work direction, and performance management of direct reports responsible for Grid DERMS hardware, software, data modeling, and operational workflows.
- Present strategies and updates to Company leadership, governing committees and impacted work groups
- Work with key stakeholders (e.g., IT/OT, cyber security, system operations, fleet operations, interconnections planning, renewables, distributed generation, energy efficiency, etc.) to ensure all future business and operational needs are identified and integrated into project planning.
- Support OCM, business process development, and training
- Coordinate with Supply Chain on contract requirements and negotiations related to agreements with external suppliers
Job Description – Edge DERMS Supervisor
This position will lead strategy and execution of GPC’s Edge DERMS implementation project. Responsibilities will include vendor evaluation, selection, procurement, project management, planning and execution, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement and communications, and budget management. The successful candidate must ensure this complex and highly visible project meets stakeholder expectations and is completed on time and within budget.
This formal leadership role will be responsible for providing work direction and supervision of direct reports responsible for Edge DERMS implementation, data modeling, technical support and DER field gateway communications. As we build out the Edge DERMS team, the successful candidate will help define new roles, responsibilities, business processes, and workflows related to Edge DERMS operations. As a strategic leader, this role must be able to articulate a clear vision for the future of DER operations in order to ensure stakeholder “buy in” and adoption.
Since the Edge DERMS will aggregate 3rd party platforms facilitating Behind-the-Meter (BTM) DER programs and serve as the technology solution for future programs, this role will require close collaboration with organizations developing and administering such programs. In order to integrate this platform with Grid DERMS, close collaboration will required with operations technology support groups, TO, cybersecurity, and system operations. This position will also work closely with project managers, accounting, and supply chain.
