POSITION SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing materials, equipment and supplies.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
  2. Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
  3. Maintains system to evaluate vendor quotes.
  4. Utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery and service.
  5. Monitors, designs and manages procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements.
  6. Recruits and maintains supplier/vendor list that are able to provide high quality product while meeting Plymouth’s Ethical standards.
  7. Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices
  8. Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance.
  9. Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price and acceptability.
  10. Negotiates requests for equipment, supplies and services from vendors, suppliers and contractors.
  11. Arranges for the disposal of surplus material and ensures that disposal activities are environmentally sound.
  12. Monitors and approves employee vacation, time cards and over-time.
  13. Assists Supply Chain Manager in writing and delivering employee annual evaluations.
  14. Assists Supply Chain Manager in employee disciplinary actions.
  15. Participates in the interviewing and selection process for all new department team members to help identify A players.

  • Participates in 5s Events and Kaizen related events
  • Participate in Team meetings of Maintenance Team Members and Cross Functional Teams as directed.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance procedures and equipment improvement activities.
  • Responds to all customers with urgency and professionalism.

  • Understands, applies and advocates all Company Environmental and Safety policies, procedures and standards.

  • Attends all prerequisite training as required by management.
  • Has the authority to stop process to correct quality, safety or environmental problems, and to promptly notify Supervisory personnel when processes are noncompliant.

QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, highly preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Purchasing
  • Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS)

 

Technology and Equipment: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a working knowledge of:

  • Windows operating systems & programs
  • Microsoft Office Suite
