Electrical and Instrumentation and Controls Systems Engineer - Plant Vogtle 1&2

Job Summary

We are looking for Electrical / I&C Engineers. Experience in power generation is desired, but not required. The Electrical and I&C Systems Engineer works to ensure the long term reliability of assigned plant system(s). This will require the ability to learn the system to the component level, understand the underlying issues that may reduce reliability, and effectively develop, present and drive the implementation of improvement plans and maintenance strategies. Electrical and I&C Systems Engineers also perform causal analyses in response to equipment or system failures. Engineers at Southern Nuclear may have opportunities to manage special projects. Engineers also typically take key refueling outage assignments.

Job Requirements

Education B.S. or higher degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or a PE license is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Experience in digital (preferred) and analog instrumentation and controls (I&C) (i.e.: integrated plant computer systems, circuit boards, transmitters, analog controllers, digital controllers, etc.).

- 2 or more years I&C engineering experience is preferred but not required (nuclear or energy related experience is helpful).

- A background in Electrical / I&C Engineering with working knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards.

- An ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions based on experience and appropriate industry practices in order to make timely decisions which might impact plant safety and reliability.

- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate issues and proposed solutions.

- The position requires the individual to be periodically (about 3 weeks per year) on-call and available to assist with related troubleshooting and restoration activities.

- Infrequent overnight travel may be required.
