JOB SUMMARY

This position supports the EDGE Portfolio and Governance Manager by overseeing a team of data analysts in coordinating the organizational governance of enterprise data processes, the internal data platform, and decision support insights. This role is responsible for the delegation of tasks of the front-end portfolio management team tasked with demand intake, triage & prioritization, and completion of a full assessment of required support for each project. This program manager governs the ownership of projects and relationship development between EDGE and our Gas business partners.

This position follows a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to be in the office three (3) days per week.

This position may be filled as a level GSE06 or GSE07. Individuals who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education, and certifications may be eligible for the more advanced position.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Govern and mentor a team of data analysts responsible for leading the intake process and requirements gathering of multiple technical projects occurring simultaneously.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, timelines, resource requirements, and deliverables.
  • Lead project management, implementation, and documentation of technical projects requested by business partners across Southern Company Gas.
  • Monitor project progress addressing any issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Support the Demand & Governance Manager in executing and overseeing the project demand roadmap.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for new project requests and portfolio management.
  • Oversee performance management of data analysts.
  • Facilitate communication between team members, stakeholders, and other relevant parties.
  • Consolidate project costs estimates and manage project budgets ensuring financial accountability.
  • Seek opportunities for process and system improvements that provide increased efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Be a change agent using data supported recommendations to implement best practices and process improvement.
  • Promote and be a champion of Safety-First safety initiatives for work team.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Business Management, Business Analytics, Information Systems and/or other relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced degree and/or PMP certification is a plus.


Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in data management, report solutioning, and managing of cross-functional project teams and multiple projects.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, IT and other technical groups (data scientists, data engineers, data architects) to define project objectives and goals.
  • Intermediate to advanced expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and other database and reporting tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated work experience in problem solving, multitasking, and prioritization.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in applications within MS Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Advanced data visualization proficiency in Power BI and MS PowerPoint.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Executive-level presentation skill, as well as effective verbal and written communication of complex analytical concepts.
  • Managing a team of direct reports and overseeing performance management.

  • Possess at least intermediate level of skills in Strategy Development, Strategy Execution, Project Management, Relationship Building & Influencing, Communication, Presentation, Team Building, Cultural Awareness, and Change Management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and manage competing deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate business objectives to executive leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead 2+ analysts in delegating and overseeing daily tactical responsibilities.
  • Ability to develop and assess performance management for 2+ direct reports.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position can require some travel - approximately 15% per year.
