Description

Central DuPage Hospital Emergency Department

  • 66 bed Emergency Department, including Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level 2 Trauma Center caring for approximately 71,000 patients a year
  • Wide variety of patients including trauma, critical care, cardiac, neurology/stroke, behavioral health, and pediatric
  • We are a recipient of the Emergency Nurses Association prestigious Lantern Award for exceptional and innovative performance in emergency care.
  • We have a Pediatric Emergency Department that operates in partnership with providers from Ann & Robert H. Lurie's Children's Hospital of Chicago. The Peds ED is also included in the ChildKind certification.
  • Robust ancillary support including coverage from Care Coordination, Social Work, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Diagnostic Imaging and ChildLife.
  • Cross-training opportunities between the general adult Emergency Department and Pediatric Emergency Department.
  • Our Emergency Department leadership team has a long history within Central DuPage Hospital with a continued focus on growth opportunities and succession planning.
  • We offer an opportunity to join various committees including Unit-based Shared Decision Making Committee, Trauma Committee, Staff Advisory and Schedule Committee.
  • The Scheduling Committee provides a platform for employees to influence scheduling needs and best practices.
  • Fostering a comprehensive Nurse Residency Program that allows new graduate RN's to succeed a career in Emergency Medicine.
  • Staff collaborates with multiple on-site specialty areas to provide comprehensive patient care. Including NICU, Pediatrics, PICU, Critical Care, Inpatient Behavioral Health, Outpatient Services.
  • Staff are able to gain additional certifications including TNS, ECRN, SANE, TNCC, ENPC


The Staff Nurse Inpatient reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation.
  • Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
  • Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
  • Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan, focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services that indicates communications with patients, families, and others.
  • Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
  • Evaluates and documents the patient's responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualizes the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings.
  • Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings to guide practice decisions.



Qualifications

Required :

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
  • Basic Life Support
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Strong analytic abilities
  • Additional requirements for the Emergency Room:
    • ACLS
    • PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year of hire
  • Additional requirements for the Pediatric Emergency Room:
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support
    • TNCC within one year of hire


Preferred:

  • Experience in specific clinical area
  • Additional preferences for the Emergency Room and the Pediatric Emergency Room:
    • Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS)
    • Emergency Communications Registered Nurse
    • Certified Pediatric Nurse
    • Certified Emergency Nurse
