P&CFS Supervisor - (Oakley Transmission Maintenance Area )

NOTE: This job will be filled at level 7E.

Job Summary

The PCFS Supervisor will lead the engineering team in a Safety Excellence environment with a focus on learning as well as implementation of the STEP observation tools. The PCFS Supervisor will have accountability to ensure a culture within the team that is inclusive, builds trust and is continuously improving. This includes ownership of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts as well as leadership in continuing to advance our Southern Company "Ensuring Equity" plans. Development of the team members as well as communications within the team are key responsibilities for the PCFS Supervisor. The PCFS Supervisor will provide leadership and guidance for planning, operation, and maintenance activities in the area and will help monitor and guide area-wide budgets, compliance, and system maintenance to ensure reliability. The PCFS Supervisor will provide performance management as well as leadership and guidance in dealing with customer issues (internal and external). This position will work closely with the other functional departments in the area to deliver best in class, customer value, reliability and cost. The PCFS Supervisor will also be responsible for managing system trouble and SERP events.

Job Responsibilities

  • Model and support our Safety Excellence and Human Performance culture.
  • Ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of the Transmission assets (transmission lines and substations) and Distribution assets (substations).
  • Ensure completion of all required NERC PCFS activities.
  • Ensure personnel develop and use safe and efficient work practices to prevent safety and operational incidents. Follow formal written requirements. Conduct thorough and well documented \"job briefings\".
  • Ensure personnel are available for response to abnormal events and to restore service to our customers during and after normal work hours, on weekends, and holidays in order to enhance customer value.
  • Ensure personnel receive proper training to allow them to perform in their current positions and develop them for advancement to positions of increasing responsibility in the future.
  • Ensure budget goals (engineering, capital, operations and maintenance, tool and test equipment, fleet, and general plant) are met and support Transmission Maintenance budget goals.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering (Preferred)
  • Professional Engineering License (Preferred)


Experience

  • Experience in Power Delivery required
  • At least 5 years of Protection & Control engineering experience preferred
  • At least 2 years Supervisory and Leadership experience preferred.


Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and demonstrated ability to motivate others
  • Ability to understand technical issues. Working knowledge of P&CFS.
  • Knowledge of company safety procedures and the safe operation of the system.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting and business management
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Effective in oral and written communications, facilitation of meetings, and able to build and maintain relationships with varied contacts both outside and within the company.

Other Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Successful candidate must be available to support outages or other abnormal conditions outside of their normal work schedule.
  • Overnight travel is sometimes required.
  • Be in the field at least 25% of the time with employees
  • "Safety Sensitive" position and as such is subject to fitness for duty requirements and relevant screening(s).
  • Ability to pass NERC CIP Background check and obtain unescorted NERC CIP Substation Access.
  • Use email, mobile device, company radios, etc. to maintain good communication with supervision. Ensure compliance with Southern Company Electronic Communication Policy.
  • Must live in/near or be willing to relocate within reasonable distance to the Union City location.
